TAMA - Findings from the Single Mothers Quality of Life Project
Through our Single Mothers Quality of Life Project, TAMA has gathered valuable insights into the challenges faced by single mothers from diverse backgrounds. This initiative has allowed us to identify key areas where targeted support can make a significant difference in their lives.
Key Findings and Support Initiatives:
Skill Development & Education: The project revealed a strong need for skill-building opportunities. In response, we facilitated training programs, such as cooking licenses and disability support certifications, to help single mothers improve their employment prospects.
Childcare Access: Our findings highlighted the struggle to access affordable childcare. To address this, we assisted mothers in navigating childcare schemes, enabling them to balance work and family responsibilities more effectively.
Addressing Social Issues: The project also identified the need for awareness on social issues like Female Genital Mutilation (FGM). TAMA organized educational sessions to promote understanding and open dialogue on this critical topic.
Employment & Housing Challenges: Employment discrimination and housing instability emerged as major obstacles. We advocate for flexible work options and faster housing subsidy processes, particularly for single mothers who are refugees or asylum seekers.
TAMA’s project-driven approach continues to shape our efforts to support single mothers, empowering them to achieve financial independence and improve their quality of life
