Hafsa; the hard working and caring, President of Tama. “After working hard in my home country to obtain qualifications, I had to re-train once I arrived in Malta. This is the reality faced by so many, as well as challenges like opening a bank account as an asylum seeker, integrating successfully into society and obtaining certification in Malta- amongst other difficulties. What I care most about is achieving gender equality, the importance of celebrating different cultures, independence from the past, teaching others to have improved self esteem and fighting against S/GBV and FGM”.

Hafsa has a BSc RN in Nursing, experience in working in health and social services, health advocacy, non-governmental sector and previously worked as interpreter in humanitarian settings for NGO’s like UNHCR. Hafsa also set up an NGO in Somalia on sexual health advocacy.
